What is ‘reiki’?

‘Reiki’ simply means mean universal energy. It is a method of non-intrusive healing whereby universal life-force energy is channeled by a Reiki practitioner to a third party (a human being or any other life forms), to facilitate and accelerate the natural and innate healing process and ability of the recipient. In Reiki, we believe that life is sustained by the life force energy that is flowing through us, in our physical body and throughout our aura or energy field. This life force energy nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions.

When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. In normal circumstances, we can consume energy through exercises, foods and through natural environment, in long-term if there’s problem during consuming process or over drawn energy, our physical, emotional, mental & spiritual will imbalance, and easily cause sickness, emotional unstable, anger, depression, worse become illness.

The life force energy is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

What will I learn in this workshop?

In this workshop, a student will learn to:

Are there any pre-requisites to learning reiki?

No, none whatsoever. Reiki is universal and is easy to learn, regardless of a person’s age, gender, physical ability, race or religion

SOME COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT REIKI:

Can anyone learn reiki?

Yes. Anyone can learn reiki regardless of gender, age, religion, state of health or beliefs. There are no pre-requisites at all. There are no exceptions to this and in this respect reiki truly transcends all borders and boundaries.

Is reiki affiliated to any religion?

No, absolutely not. Reiki is not affliated or associated with any religion or religious philosophy. It is quite simply, a natural form of healing using universal energy that supports all life. Anyone has the ability to use and benefit from reiki irregardless of his/her religion, philosophy or beliefs.

Is it possible for everyone to learn reiki in a short time such as a day course?

Yes. Everyone has an innate and natural ability to channel and use universal life force energy. However, in a reiki workshop, the student’s ability to connect to and access this universal energy is greatly opened up and enhanced by the teacher. Nothing is required on the part of the student except for his/her willingness to accept this ability to access universal energy.

How efrective is reiki in healing?

In reiki, we believe that all physical disease and ailments are merely symptoms of some imbalance or affliction in a person’s mental and emotional states. In this respect, reiki assists the receipient to heal at all levels, namely mental emotional and physical. However it is not possible to predict or guarantee a specific outcome in a healing, this is because much still depends on the extent to which the healee is willing to change or let go of the negative patterns afflicting his/her mental or emotional states.

Does a reiki practitoner use his/her own energy when giving a healing to others or self?

No. A reiki practitioner accesses universal energy which is unlimited and does not originate from the practitioner. In this sense, the reiki practitioner is simply a conduit or channel for life force energy.

Can my ability to access and use universal energy be lost?

No. The energy is always available and accessible to you, whenever you have the intent to use it. Your ability will remain with you even if many years pass without your using it. In this sense no practice or re-attendance at classes is necessary for you to sustain your ability to channel or access reiki.

Is reiki safe?

Yes, the energy is universal and always works for the highest good of the receipient. Many practitioners experience the energy as having qualities of compassion, love, light, one-ness and transcendence, just to name a few.

Can I apply reiki to animals

Yes. Animals generally are very receptive and respond very well to reiki. Many practitioners have also applied reiki to plants with much success.

Can I apply reiki towards healing abstract situations?

Yes. In Reiki level 2 you will be taught how to use reiki in abstract and different ways. For instance, you will learn how to send healing to someone without needing to be physically next to them (this is called ‘distance healing’) or to situations which require healing, such as the tsunami disaster in Japan..

What is the historical origin of reiki?

It is believed that reiki as a healing art is of ancient origin, lost to the most part of civilisation throughout the ages, but was subsequently re-discovered by a Japanese Master Dr Mikao Usui in the early part of the 20th century. Ironically, it was in the western world where it re-emerged in new-found popularity, namely in America in the 1970s. Since then, millions worldwide have benefited from reiki, with some hospitals and clinics in the western world now recognizing and offering reiki treatment to their patients.

The popularity of reiki seems to stem in part, on its universal applicability, and the non-invasiveness and gentleness of the reiki treatment, as well as the simplicity of the reiki treatment process.

Can reiki be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment, therapies or medicine?

Yes, absolutely. The reiki treatment does not conflict with, and in most cases may in fact enhance, the efficacy of other forms of treatment, therapies or medicine.
